Saturn

Based on formal considerations of how new forms emerge from the grouping of individual elements, I turn my attention to Saturn’s rings and their unique formal structure. The arrangement of ice and dust particles within the rings follows physical laws, creating an extremely thin yet expansive structure that encircles the planet.

In my artistic process, however, I am not concerned with merely depicting physical principles but rather with revealing a logic that manifests discernible structures within complex systems through the orderly arrangement of their individual components. Only from a distance does the sum of these parts form a "holistic shape," perceived as cohesive. By juxtaposing a single meteor with the entire ring structure, I formally explore various questions addressing contrasts such as near/far, large/small, single/multiple. 20.000 single particles that may appear chaotic in isolation ararnge themselves into a perfect geometric shape, transitioning into a state of calm that is untouched by disturbance.
